My first healthcare communications Agency role
The previous pharma company I worked for employed Havas so I was introduced to the industry and started looking for Agency roles in healthcare communications.
My typical week
I spend a lot of time on calls with various clients based in Germany and the US. I also manage the creation and design of a large amount of visual materials for patients and HCPs, along with writing press releases, creating social media campaigns and media monitoring reports.
What advice would you give someone looking to join a healthcare comms Agency
Be prepared to learn and be doing something new every day. Time management is an essential part of the job, as there is constant juggling of client responsibilities, tasks, calls and meetings. Learning to cultivate good relationships with people (clients, colleagues, other agencies) is essential to grow within this industry.
My proudest moment
Working on a series of printed materials for a rheumatoid arthritis client. I oversaw the creation of these from the proposal stage, drafted the copy, briefed and managed the designers and performed final checks before sending to the client. We received excellent feedback from the client.
My greatest challenge or frustration
Managing my time effectively to produce the highest standard of work. Sometimes with many conflicting deadlines and responsibilities it can be a challenge to prioritise the most urgent tasks.
What 3 skills do you think are most important in your role?
Time management, Attention to detail, communication/people skills.
Where do you want to be in 5 years’ time?
I would like to be in a more senior position within the comms industry, and exploring the new opportunities available within various agencies.
